Rainy Spring Friday Cocktail: French Negroni
Vendredi soir and it’s raining...a French Negroni always brightens our spirits. Swapping Campari for French wine aperitif Lillet Rouge gives your Negroni a smoother, fuller, taste filled with ripe fruit flavors and a satisfying satin finish - perfect for a rainy spring evening in front of the fire.
Invented in the 1870s in the village of Podensac, south of Bordeaux, Raymond and Paul Lillet leveraged the region's wines to create an award winning wine based aperitif. Local wines blended with macerated citrus liquors and quinquina and aged in oak barrels gives Lillet Rouge a ruby color, robust structure, and notes of fresh orange, ripe fruits and berries, vanilla, and delicate spices. Combine Lillet Rouge with dry gin and sweet red vermouth, and finish with an orange twist for a splendid rainy spring cocktail.
